Question by beesknees: She says, “we should date” but is she serious?
Longtime female friend of mine (seven or eight years) … when we first met, it was pretty hot and steamy for a few months, but it cooled off after I tried to get more serious with her (she gave me the “friends” speech). Been platonic friends since, although still a lot of chemistry when we get together. When we’re together people always ask if we’re in a relationship.
The other day we were hanging out (first time in months), and I was asking about her dating life. She said, “I’m single, your single … we should date!” And I laughed and said, “No way! We can’t date, we’re friends.” And she laughed, sort of, but it was a little awkward afterwards, I think.
Actually a few weeks before that we were chatting online and she joked (?) that “our kids would be cute”, to which I replied (jokingly), “No way, they’d be little monsters!” to which she laughed.
Now this weekend I’m having a party and she said my place is kind of far, so I invited her to sleep over and she said yes, without hesitation.
Soooo … okay, am I an idiot, or what? Is she serious? If I try to get serious with her, might I get burned again? I’m not interested in hearing the “friends” talk again.
